Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how your data is handled by Merritt Property Group. If anything is not clear, email us at info@merrittpropertygroup.com.au.
Our principles
We take a simple approach to data protection and privacy which adheres to the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). As an Australian organisation we are bound by the APPs in the Privacy Act 1988, which regulate how organisations may collect, use, disclose and store personal information, and how individuals may access and correct personal information held about them.
In this policy, "personal information" has the meaning given by section 6 of the Privacy Act: information or an opinion about an individual whose identity is apparent, or can reasonably be ascertained, from that information or opinion.
What we collect
We collect personal information so we can provide the services and information you ask for. This may include your name, location, phone number, email address and details you provide when interacting with us. Information collected automatically when you visit the website may include your internet service provider, operating system, browser, IP address or other device identifiers, location and time stamp.
Enquiry forms. When you submit an enquiry, we record it securely and use it to respond to your query. We may contact you about services we provide where that is in line with your original enquiry.
Email list and downloads. When you request a report, guide or calculator results, or subscribe to our market update, you consent to receive the item you requested plus our monthly market update by email. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, honoured promptly. We record where and when consent was given, as the Spam Act 2003 requires. We send all email in line with Australian Communications and Media Authority guidelines.
Cookies and analytics. The site uses analytics and, where you consent, advertising measurement. A consent banner lets you decline; declining does not change how the site works. You can also disable cookies in your browser.
Use and disclosure
We only use personal information for the purpose it was provided, or purposes directly related to our functions and activities. We do not pass your personal information to any other party unless one of the following applies (per APP 6): you have consented; you would reasonably expect it or have been informed of it; it is required or authorised by law; or it may prevent or lessen a serious and imminent threat to somebody's life or health.
Data quality, security, access and correction
We do our best to keep personal information accurate and up to date. We take active steps to protect the personal information we hold against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure. If any information we hold about you is incorrect, or you would like access to what we hold, contactinfo@merrittpropertygroup.com.au. Under Australian privacy law there are limited situations where access cannot be provided, for example where it would unreasonably affect someone else's privacy. When no longer required, personal information is destroyed in a secure manner unless the law requires otherwise.
